End of Life Care Guidance
NACEL measures the performance of hospitals against criteria relating to the delivery of care at the end of life which are considered best practice. These criteria are derived from national guidance, including One Chance To Get It Right, 2014, and NICE Quality Standards and guidance. Specifically, the audit was designed to capture information on the Five priorities for care of the dying person as set out in One Chance To Get It Right, 2014. The priorities make the dying person themselves the focus of care in the last few days and hours of life, and specifically cite outcomes which must be delivered for every dying person.
